Education:
In the Philippines you need a college degree just to work in fast food. Education can change a child’s life. We provide the opportunity for each girl to finish high school and go to college. If college is not a good option for a girl, we help her find a trade school or livelihood project so she is able to provide for herself and her family in the future.
Life Skills:
Children who have grown up in orphanages and children’s homes often do not have the basic life skills necessary to transition into adulthood successfully.
At The Mango Home each girl learns basic skills like cooking, cleaning, budgeting, grocery and market shopping, and using public transportation to help prepare them for independence.
Counseling:
Children who have grown up in orphanages and children’s homes have faced many challenges and traumas. The Mango Home provides spiritual mentorship and therapy for each girl ensuring that they receive the counseling they need to heal from their past trauma. Through therapy and counseling, our girls learn to express their feelings, develop problem-solving skills, and communicate with others.
Family Support:
When girls join The Mango Home they are accepted into the family. This is a family that will be there to support them even when they are ready to live independently. We do not use the word ‘orphan’ to describe the girls in our care because they have joined the mango family. They are orphans no more!
Spiritual Development:
The Mango Home believes in education, counseling, family support and teaching life skills, however our main focus is Christ. It is only through the Lord that these girls will find true healing and restoration from their past trauma. The Mango Home recognizes their worth in Christ as beloved daughters and wants them to grow into strong and dignified women of God who do not need to fear their future. (Proverbs 31:25) Our deepest desire and prayer is for them to know they are loved, cherished, and wanted by their heavenly Father.
